Rousay Lap & the Peedie Lap

The Rousay Lap is a Half-Marathon spanning 13.1 miles along a unique, circular route, with incredible views, and the highest public road in Orkney.

The annual event was first held in 2009.

The Rousay, Egilsay and Wyre Development Trust is

responsible for organising the Rousay Lap and the Peedie Lap.

Rousay Regatta

The Rousay Regatta hosted by the Rousay RNLI.

The event begins with traditional sailboat races, followed by games, a BBQ, and of course The Raft Race!

During the raft race, teams of four would construct a raft out of any items they can find. The only piece of equipment they could salvage from a boat is a propeller.

The race started from the pier on Rousay, the rafts then headed to Wyre, where they were required to touch the pier, and then return to the Rousay pier.

The MV Eynhallow would follow to Wyre giving spectators a fantastic view of the action!

The Rousay Regatta has not been held since 2012.
